Commuting on LI update: Nassau vs. Suffolk
51% of Suffolk County residents spend less than 30 minutes commuting to work in 2019, compared to 46% County of Nassau residents.
In both counties, this represents a drop from 2010, where 58% Suffolk county residents and 50% of Nassau residents spent less than 30 minutes commuting.
A look at the different methods of commuting shows that there are changes there in both counties through the years as well. There’s a slight shift toward using public transportation on Long Island.
And while the shift toward using public transportation is positive, it’s apparent Long Island is still heavily reliant on driving.
